Hello and Welcome to my Homepage As a German mineralogist I spent over 12 years (from 1988 to 2000) in Mexico, where I worked as a geologist in precious metal exploration. Currently I am living in Germany, however I travel to Mexico several times per year, sometimes because I perform a working contract, but a principal interest is the search of mineral specimens. Most of the minerals I offer have been purchased or swapped directly from the mine personnel and Mexican mineral collectors, but from time to time I also have the possibility to collect minerals by myself. Although there exist uncountable possibilities to collect minerals in the field or in abandoned mining districts, over 80% of the top quality Mexican mineral specimens are recovered from active mines. I will continue with my efforts in exploring Mexico for the finest mineral specimens. I hope you enjoy my mineral galleries. Matthias Jurgeit

Currently I am heavily involved in geologic exploration work. Therefore I am almost not able to attend my website. Nevertheless I still dedicate some of my time for searching mineral specimens and I will continue with my presence in the mineral show of Sainte-Marie aux Mines, France. My top-specimens are shown on the page “The Finest”. Sometimes mineral collecting resembles a sort of detective work and of coarse a good portion of luck. Recently I was able to solve such a “case”, dealing with the extremely rare mineral Nifontovite; I wrote a small article about this sensational new find, you can find it here. I was able to purchase a considerable portion of this new and sensational nifontovite find. Some of these specimens are for sale, selected pieces are offered on this website. In late October 2009 I visited central Scotland and was able to find a couple of interesting mineral specimens; definitely they are not of world-class quality. However some are really nice, furthermore similar pieces cannot be purchased from other dealers from this rather unknown locality. I have added a few specimens for sale under the page World C1. In the following months I might update with additional specimens from this locality, once I have XRD analysis from the yet unidentified mineral species. |
